Journey of mRNA Vaccination

About mRNA

mRNA / Messenger RNA is a type of single-stranded RNA involved in protein synthesis. It is made from a DNA template during the process of Transcription and carries all the necessary information from DNA in a cell’s nucleus to the cell cytoplasm for the synthesis of protein through the process of Translation.

Beginning of mRNA as Vaccination

Robert Malone, in the year 1987 performed a landmark experiment  he mixed strands of mRNA with droplet of fat, to create a kind of molecular stew and when exposed to human cell, it was absorbed and mRNA began production of protein from it.

Challenges of mRNA as Vaccination

During the beginning of mRNA as vaccination,
1. mRNA molecule was unstable.
2. mRNA was expensive to be used as a drug.
3. Right formula of fats and nucleic acids – building blocks of mRNA vaccinations.
